Africa Film Society

Africa Film Society is dedicated to preserving and promoting Africa's cinematic legacy while fostering new talent and engaging audiences. Founded by Ghanaian filmmaker Blitz Bazawule in 2016 and based in Accra, the organization operates a 40-seat theater, film library, and exhibition space as a hub for filmmakers and cinephiles. Through initiatives like Classics In The Park, it brings free outdoor screenings of early African films (1950–1980) to communities, focusing on restoration and redistribution from original reels to introduce these works to new generations. By empowering, educating, and encouraging the art of filmmaking across the continent and its diaspora, Africa Film Society bridges the past and future of African cinema.
