Melodies of Akola is a unique choir in Akola formed on January 26, 2020, by renowned chartered accountant Manoj Chandak with the goal of bringing together friends from various walks of life for regular musical gatherings. The group is distinguished by its non-professional nature; its members include high-ranking government officials, police officers, architects, builders, accountants, farmers, and homemakers, united by a shared love for music rather than professional ambition. The organization's founding event was held at the Promilatai Oak Hall, which was completely full, yet the ticket sales were so high that none were left, reflecting the deep family-like bond among participants. During the initial performances, the atmosphere was intimate and emotional, with songs ranging from romantic ballads to nostalgic hits from the 1970s, creating a sense of absolute connection between the singers and the audience. The group's commitment to community service became even more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they transitioned to online concerts to maintain their musical tradition. Beyond entertainment, Melodies of Akola actively engages in social welfare activities, having distributed food packets to 500 poor families, provided sweaters and blankets to homeless individuals during winter, and organized tree planting drives. The group has also celebrated significant personal milestones, such as the 50th anniversary of a police officer's wedding and the birthday of a founding member's parents, demonstrating how music has knit a tight-knit family of friends together through shared joy and mutual support.
