Anchorage CASA Program

The Anchorage CASA Program provides volunteer advocates for children in the child welfare system.

The Anchorage CASA program serves as the state headquarters for Alaska CASA under the Office of Public Advocacy and is managed by program coordinator Amy Fuqua. The organization strives to ensure that every child in Alaska's child welfare system who needs a CASA volunteer has one. In 2021, the Anchorage program supported 145 children and youth ranging from infants to eighteen years old, drawing on a diverse group of 39 active volunteers that included young professionals, stay-at-home parents, and retirees. The program emphasizes honoring the unique history and culture of each child and seeks volunteers from various backgrounds. Prospective volunteers can participate in pre-service training, and current participants have access to continuing education and community engagement opportunities by contacting the Anchorage CASA office for details.
