ABIW is a group of women in Antwerp focused on social and cultural activities.

ABIW is a friendly group of women in Antwerp who regularly gather for social and cultural activities. Our common language is English. We have been active in and around Antwerp for more than 50 years and have over 60 members from all over the world. Our aims are to provide a centre for expats, offer friendship and support to newcomers, and enable women of all ages and nationalities to meet and take part in social and cultural events. Many of our members are here permanently, which means the friends you make will not all be disappearing after a year or so. English-speaking women of all nationalities are welcome. Besides British expatriates, we currently have members from America, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, India, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Turkmenistan, and South Africa. Benefits of membership include making acquaintances and friends with other members, attending social events, and receiving help and advice for those who have recently arrived in Belgium. Members can attend all activities of the club, including monthly meetings, cultural outings, lunches, and coffee mornings, either for free or at membership rates. Some activities, such as the summer and Christmas lunches, are subsidized. All members receive our e-newsletters, which provide updates on past events and upcoming events, as well as three seasonal editions of our Grapevine each year: the Christmas edition (covering December and January), the Easter edition (April), and the Summer edition (June/July). Each issue is filled with news about our events, general interest articles, and information about what is happening in Antwerp and the surrounding area. A Membership Directory is also provided, which is updated and reprinted annually.
