Youth of the Parish (SYM) youth group in Bandel, organizing faith and sports events.

The Youth of the Parish (SYM) is a youth organization based in Bandel dedicated to fostering community engagement, spiritual unity, and creative expression among young people. The group recently successfully organized the Genesis'24 event at the historic Bandel Basilica in collaboration with volunteers, parish council members, and young adults from twenty-one parishes. Held on November 17, 2024, the festival centered on the theme 'With God, everything is possible' and featured a dynamic lineup of sports including football, throwball, badminton, and basketball, which attracted over four hundred participants. Although planned activities such as street plays, dance, singing, cyphers, and photography were cancelled due to low participation, the core sporting events showcased exceptional talent and teamwork. The day concluded with a closing ceremony featuring a soulful performance of the theme song 'In Your Grace', composed by a youth member, followed by inspirational words from Fr. Siby Joseph Vadakel and Fr. John Chalil. Winners were celebrated in each category, and the event ended with a vibrant folk chain dance, reinforcing the group's commitment to blending faith with fun and inspiring the younger generation through meaningful celebrations.
