Swami Vivekananda Work Circle - Baranagar
Swami Vivekananda Work Circle - Baranagar supports the needy in Baranagar, West Bengal through relief, education, and welfare.
Founded in October 2013, Swami Vivekananda Work Circle - Baranagar is a volunteer initiative dedicated to assisting the most deprived sections of society in and around Baranagar, West Bengal. The group focuses on reaching remote rural areas where government or other support has not yet arrived, providing relief and rehabilitation during crises such as cyclone Amphan and the COVID-19 pandemic. Its welfare work includes conducting seminars on addiction and general wellbeing, while educational assistance is offered through a book bank and the Future India Scholarship, which aims to support 30 impoverished high school students with a monthly stipend and an emergency fund for essential academic expenses. Over the years, volunteers have distributed food, clothing, medical supplies, books, and tree saplings to hundreds of families and students across districts including South 24 Parganas, Birbhum, Nadia, Purba Bardhaman, and East Singhbhum. The organization also honors the guidance of Swami Prabhanandaji Maharaj, who inspired its mission from inception.
