Barasat Janakalyan Food Bank
Barasat Janakalyan Food Bank rescues surplus food in Barasat for local kitchens.
The Barasat Janakalyan Food Bank operates as a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to intercepting wholesome surplus food from local banquets, restaurants, and IT cafeterias in Barasat before it is discarded. Our community of volunteer drivers and runners work tirelessly to collect packaged food from events along Champadali More and deliver it to verified community kitchens within 45 minutes. Members can serve in three primary capacities: as surplus transport drivers using two-wheelers or four-wheelers to pick up and deliver food, as kitchen and langar helpers assisting with meal service, packaging, and sanitation at local kitchens during lunch and dinner hours, or as FSSAI Food Quality Auditors who inspect donor batches using digital infrared thermometers and issue handover certificates via our mobile platform. This organization connects directly with institutional partners operating authenticated rescue fleets in the district. The Food Bank is located at 88 Jessore Road, near Duckbanglow More, Barasat, West Bengal, 700124.
