The Horst & Anna Wagener WEAR Garden is an award-winning community garden located in the vibrant and caring WEAR neighborhood on the northside of Chicago, specifically within the Edgewater area. Established to foster a greater sense of community and create a distinct identity for the region, the garden features native plants, a butterfly sanctuary, and a centerpiece mural that serves as a unique attraction for nature enthusiasts. The space includes seating designed for neighborhood enjoyment and has been recognized again for its dedication and beauty. The garden is supported by generous donations from Gethsemane Garden Center, which shares the mission of making gardens, porches, and patches in Andersonville and Edgewater more colorful and green. While the garden is part of the larger WEAR organization founded in 1993, which encourages all residents, workers, and connected individuals to join committees and events, the garden itself focuses on ongoing planning, planting, and construction projects. The garden welcomes all members and lovers of the park to learn about its growth and development.
