While the group itself focuses on mapping, it exists within a vibrant network of other initiatives such as Chi Hack Night, the Chicago City Data User Group, and City Bureau Civic Scrapers. These surrounding groups cover diverse aspects of civic engagement, from standardizing public meeting information to fostering design for the built environment. Maptime Chicago serves as a central hub where enthusiasts can meet peers, share knowledge, and contribute to the development of digital resources that enhance civic life in Chicago. Whether you are a developer, a journalist, a student, or a curious community member, the group provides a welcoming environment to learn, collaborate, and build meaningful connections with others passionate about mapping and technology.
