WEAR - West Edgewater Area Residents is a vibrant and caring community organization based on the northside of Chicago, dedicated to fostering greater community connection and creating a distinct identity within the Edgewater area. Founded in 1993, the group serves anyone who lives, works in, or is connected to the neighborhood, encouraging all households to join as members to strengthen local bonds. Membership is available for a $20 household fee, which can be paid via cash, check, or credit card. The organization actively manages and promotes several key local initiatives, including Park #599 and the award-winning Horst & Anna Wagener WEAR Garden, which features native plants, a butterfly sanctuary, a centerpiece mural, and seating for community enjoyment. WEAR also supports seasonal events such as the Andersonville Farmers Market, which operates every Wednesday from May to October, and the annual Rosehill Cemetery Crypt 5K. The group welcomes business sponsors to support its efforts, offering recognition on their platforms in exchange for an annual sponsorship of $250. All activities and updates are centered around enhancing the quality of life, green spaces, and social fabric of the West Edgewater neighborhood.
