MUSE
MUSE is a feminist social justice women's choir based in Cincinnati.
Founded in 1984 by Catherine Roma, MUSE is one of the oldest social justice women's choirs in the United States and operates as an inclusive, feminist choral community in Cincinnati. Grounded in a foundation of feminism, the choir advocates for the rights of all people on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality, aiming to inspire change for a more peaceful and just world through song. MUSE consciously includes the voices of marginalized communities and seeks out or commissions music composed by women, as well as choral arrangements from contemporary women's movement singer-songwriters, to reflect the lives of women and enhance the sound of women’s voices. Dedicated to educating and empowering both members and audiences by celebrating women’s strengths and elevating struggles, the choir has performed extensively since its inception. MUSE has brought its music to colleges, schools, churches, prisons, temples, hospices, street events, conferences, and workshops while serving a diverse local community and traveling to perform across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Latin America.
