Die Gemeinde wuchs nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, als viele britische Soldaten methodistischen Bekenntnisses in Detmold stationiert waren; im sogenannten Engländerviertel in Detmold-Nord lebten bis zu dessen Räumung im Oktober 2014 viele Briten methodistischen Bekenntnisses.
