Cycling Kuala Lumpur is a community group dedicated to advancing bicycle usage in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for touring, recreation, work, and transportation. The group's mission is to cultivate a cycling culture among Malaysian people, aiming to promote healthy, cheaper travel while reducing traffic congestion and air pollution. Inspired by successful cycling cultures in Copenhagen and Stockholm, the group also seeks to position Kuala Lumpur as a preferred international cycling destination for Asian cyclists. The organization actively engages in civic activism to improve urban cycling infrastructure, having drafted proposals under the Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2020 to encourage more citizens to cycle within the city. In 2012, the group's leadership initiated a specialized cycling map project involving over 50 volunteers to identify suitable routes, which was released in English, Malay, and Chinese in 2014. This initiative attracted the attention of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, leading to planned infrastructure upgrades, including the Southwest Dedicated Bicycle Highway connecting Merdeka Square to Mid Valley Megamall, and the reservation of space under elevated railways for bike routes. The group supports existing facilities such as bike parking at over 42 rapid transit stations and advocates for the expansion of dedicated routes like those in Cheras, Wangsa Maju, and Taman Melawati, while also addressing issues regarding illegal parking and promoting the use of foldable bicycles on public transport.
