Meet Up KL Hiking

Meet Up KL Hiking group in Kuala Lumpur for local hiking adventures and community.

Meet Up KL Hiking is a community group based in Kuala Lumpur dedicated to exploring the city's rich network of outdoor trails. Founded by the author, the group has served as a starting point for finding lifelong friends and organizing weekend hiking trips. While the group itself does not maintain a specific schedule or offer formal membership dues, it connects enthusiasts with other local organizations such as Trailblazers, MY Back To Nature, and Peaks Outdoor Malaysia for organized weekend excursions. The group encourages members to use resources like AllTrails for technical trail details and Windy Maps for weather conditions. Meet Up KL Hiking highlights the unique appeal of tropical hiking in the region, characterized by steep, muddy, and technical terrain that offers a distinct adventure compared to other Southeast Asian destinations. The community is interested in visiting diverse locations ranging from the 430-meter summit of Bukit Saga and the 160-meter Bukit Gasing to more challenging excursions like the 1,493-meter Gunung Nuang, the 1,050-meter Bukit Kutu, and the 850-meter Bukit Chenuang. Other popular spots mentioned include the family-friendly Taman Tugu Trails, the community-managed Kota Damansara Community Forest, the scenic Bukit Broga for sunrise views, and the distant but rewarding Gunung Datuk in Negeri Sembilan. The group fosters an environment where members can experience everything from gentle walks through secondary forests to gruelling rainforest treks, all while appreciating the diverse flora, fauna, and historical sites found throughout the Titiwangsa mountain range and surrounding areas.
