City Relief volunteers in Washington Heights, Inwood, and across NYC and NJ to support homelessness and poverty relief.

City Relief is a community group in New York dedicated to connecting volunteers with vital opportunities to assist individuals and families facing poverty and homelessness. Our focus includes Washington Heights, Inwood, and the broader New York City and New Jersey areas, where numerous organizations rely on extra hands to expand their impact. We encourage residents to lend their time, skills, and support to these vital efforts, which range from serving meals and managing food pantries to providing mobile resource centers and tutoring. Current opportunities include working with Verde Vida to set up mobile farmers markets, supporting NYC Love Kitchen's weekly food distribution, and joining City Relief's eight weekly mobile outreaches. Other local partners such as the Bowery Mission, City Harvest, and the Bowery Mission offer diverse roles like meal service, grant application review, and park restoration. Whether you wish to help LGBTQ+ youth through the Ali Forney Center, contribute to educational programs at Operation Exodus, or maintain green spaces with the New York Restoration Project, there is a place for you to give back. All volunteer opportunities require registration through the respective organization's website, and questions can be directed to [email protected]. By participating, you help strengthen our communities and make a real difference in people's lives.
