Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn

Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn offers modern Buddhism and meditation classes for everyone in Boerum Hill.

Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn is a friendly, volunteer-run, non-profit community dedicated to offering modern Buddhism and meditation classes designed to benefit everyone regardless of their beliefs. Established in 2005 as Vajradhara Meditation Center, the center has moved from Fort Greene to Prospect Heights and now occupies a storefront on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill. The space features a small bookstore, lounge, meditation room, and backyard patio. Most classes, day retreats, and workshops are open to students at any level, including those with no prior experience, and typically include a talk, guided meditation, and discussion. The Foundation Program and Teacher Training Program are designed for more advanced practitioners. Students may attend single classes or sign up for a membership offering unlimited classes for $50 a month. Regular students often volunteer as class assistants, help with marketing and administration, or assist with keeping the center clean and stocked with snacks. As part of the global New Kadampa Tradition, this center supports a diverse community of Brooklynites including scientists, writers, artists, teachers, and parents. Community events include walks, art nights, potluck meals, and BBQs, with snacks, tea, and conversation available before and after classes. All are welcome to join the supportive community of practitioners here.
