NYC Black Deaf Advocates, NYCBDA

NYC Black Deaf Advocates, a civil rights group for Black Deaf individuals in New York.

The New York City Black Deaf Advocates (NYCBDA), Chapter 4, is a civil rights organization founded in 1983 dedicated to ending discrimination against Black Deaf individuals. Our mission is to better inform ourselves and the broader Deaf community about the rights and responsibilities of Black Deaf persons. We actively identify, examine, and disseminate information regarding the impact of social, economic, educational, political, religious, and health issues on our community. To achieve our goals, we organize forums, panels, lectures, and workshops, while also focusing on increased leadership development and job opportunities for Black Deaf individuals to further their potentials. Guided by the motto 'Nothing about us without us,' NYCBDA is primarily directed by people with disabilities who fight to eliminate barriers preventing full equality in American society. We are committed to raising expectations and transforming dreams into reality for Black Deaf persons. For more information, please contact us at [email protected] or call 646-504-4342.
