Raleigh Boychoir offers choral music education and performance for boys in Raleigh.
Founded in 1968 by Thomas E. Sibley, the Raleigh Boychoir provides choral music opportunities for boys ranging in age from 7 to 14. Coached in the traditional boychoir style, choristers learn and perform sacred and classical music, musical theater selections, and American folk and patriotic songs. The organization features several tiers of participation, including the Training Choir, Resident Choir, Performing Choir, Millennium Singers, and an Alumni/Scholar Choir, allowing members to develop their vocal skills, discipline, and etiquette. Over the decades, the choir has built an accomplished reputation with performances locally and at notable venues such as the White House, Carnegie Hall, and Notre Dame Cathedral. The group regularly collaborates with local arts organizations, including the Carolina Ballet for its annual production of The Nutcracker, and hosts premier seasonal events such as the Carols of Christmas concert. Through rigorous rehearsals and musical camaraderie, members experience the pure and powerful sound characteristic of traditional boychoirs while forming lasting musical connections in the Triangle area.
