Jamtara Elderly Clubs

Recreational clubs for senior citizens in Jamtara blocks, Ranchi.

Jamtara Elderly Clubs is an initiative by the district administration in Ranchi to establish recreational centers for senior citizens across all six blocks, including Nala, Fathepur, Jamtara, Narayanpur, Karmatand, and Kundhit. Conceived by Deputy Commissioner Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz to combat depression and isolation among the elderly, these centers utilize renovated old buildings at block offices to provide a space for social interaction and a dignified life. Membership is open to individuals aged 60 and above. In addition to recreational spaces, health camps are planned to be organized at these clubs, and a committee led by a Block Development Officer as the ex-officio secretary oversees proper monitoring. The initiative aims to support older residents living within proximity to the block offices by offering a community environment and addressing the challenges of old age.
