Volunteer In Parks (VIP) Program
Volunteer at San Juan National Historic Site to help preserve natural and cultural resources.
The Volunteer In Parks (VIP) Program invites individuals from all walks of life, including students, professionals, and retirees, to share their time, expertise, and love for the San Juan National Historic Site. Volunteers offer valuable skills, time, and energy to help the National Park Service accomplish its mission of preserving and protecting natural, historical, and cultural resources for current and future generations. The site itself is comprised of Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo San Cristóbal, Fortín San Juan de la Cruz, the San Juan Gate, the surrounding walls of Old San Juan, and El Morro Trail, representing the only site administered by the US National Park Service in Puerto Rico. A variety of volunteer positions are available to suit different talents and interests, such as Administrative Assistant, Visitor Services Assistant, Educational Assistant, and Graphic Artist. Volunteers in these roles help with office tasks, present orientation talks, assist with education programs and K-12 curriculum development, or provide artwork and graphic design for park publications and exhibits. Those interested in making a difference and applying to become a volunteer can fill out the Volunteer Application Form or contact the program directly.
