Sustainable Seattle

Sustainable Seattle works to build a thriving future for the city by advancing initiatives that deliver environmental, economic, and community benefits while promoting equity and resilience. Since 1991, local community members have come together to align, amplify, and activate efforts toward a more sustainable Seattle. The organization’s Indicators for a Sustainable Community have been emulated by over 90 cities and recognized with a United Nations award, while its Center for Applied Sustainability has left a lasting impact on the region. Today, Sustainable Seattle’s community includes thousands of people, dozens of organizers, and numerous gatherings each year, all united in their commitment to creating a generative and just city. The organization also acknowledges that its work takes place on the traditional homelands of the Coast Salish peoples, including the unceded territory of the Duwamish Peoples.
