Udupi Diocese – a Christian community in Udupi, Karnataka.
Udupi Diocese is a Christian jurisdiction centred in the coastal town of Udupi, Karnataka. Guided by Apostolic Administrator Gerald Isaac Lobo, the diocese actively fosters ecumenical dialogue and shared worship among the region’s diverse Christian traditions. Recent events, such as the diocesan‑level ecumenical prayer meeting held at the UBM Jubilee Memorial Hall, brought together clergy and faithful from Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Church of South India and United Basel Mission congregations to celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed. Speakers including Bishop Hemachandra Kumar of the CSI Karnataka Southern Diocese, director Rovel Shubhadip D’Souza of the Divine Spring Retreat Centre, and principal H. M. Watson of Karnataka Theological College highlighted the creed’s historical significance and its role in promoting humility, forgiveness and unity. The programme featured devotional hymns, prayers and a vote of thanks, underscoring the diocese’s commitment to spiritual transformation through collective prayer and mutual respect. Through such initiatives, Udupi Diocese seeks to embody the spirit of unity in diversity that the Nicene Creed has inspired for centuries.
