RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)

A volunteer network in Albuquerque for adults aged 55 and over.

RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over, operating as an AmeriCorps Seniors program sponsored locally by the City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs with additional funding from the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Care Services Department. The program recruits and facilitates the placement of approximately 400 volunteers in public, government, and non-profit organizations across the Albuquerque metropolitan area to meet critical community needs and support 64 community agencies and programs. RSVP's primary goal is to invest in healthy futures for older adults in the areas of transportation, nutrition, and outreach. Service opportunities are diverse and include building capacity for city departments and non-profits, addressing food insecurity and poverty, providing senior transportation for medical appointments and grocery shopping, delivering meals to homebound seniors, and participating in one-time special event projects. Volunteers also serve in schools, hospitals, museums, senior centers, police departments, social services, food pantries, and environmental projects. Participants enjoy benefits such as supplemental accident and liability coverage while on duty, mileage reimbursement, placement assistance, and recognition events.
