Hyde Park School of Dance offers dance classes for children 7 and under in Chicago.
Hyde Park School of Dance provides a robust dance program specifically designed for children under seven years old in Chicago. The school offers a diverse curriculum including pre-ballet, tap, creative movement, African dance, hip hop, modern, and AcroDance, aiming to help young dancers explore the joy of movement. For the 2024-2025 academic year, enrollment is available from September through May, with registration closing on March 1, 2025. During the summer months, the school hosts two four-week sessions and a three-week Little Dancer Weekday Workshop associated with its summer production. The First Steps class is tailored for toddlers aged 18 to 36 months, meeting once a week for thirty minutes with a parent or caregiver. In this session, parents and children engage in music-based play to explore rhythm and movement. While traditional dancewear is welcome, there is no strict dress code; however, participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, and street shoes are not permitted in the studio. Ballet shoes or socks are recommended for all participants.
