Joel Hall Dancers & Center in Chicago offers accessible dance education and performance focusing on Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ experiences.

Joel Hall Dancers & Center awakens the dancer in everyone's soul by providing comprehensive dance education and artistic expression that highlights the Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ experience. Founded in 1974 by Joel Hall, a native of Chicago's Cabrini Green neighborhood, the organization has a rich 50+ year history dedicated to Urban Jazz dance. The Center offers both online and in-person classes at its Main Studio located in Chicago's Uptown Neighborhood at 4511 N. Clark, aiming to make dance accessible and affordable for all. Their mission is to use dance as a powerful tool to educate, inspire, and dismantle oppressive systems, fostering a more inclusive and equitable world. The group envisions a world where dance is a right rather than a privilege, working to enhance collective culture and contribute to a just society. Their core values include transparency, artistic excellence, high-caliber performance, respect, and stewardship of resources. The company consists of three tiers: the First Company, the Second Company, and the Youth Company, which assemble to perform in front of the bright lights of the Chicago Dance Scene. Through concerts, workshops, and community engagement, Joel Hall Dancers & Center continues to dazzle audiences throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, across the country, and around the world.
