Palenque LSNA is a community group in Chicago's Logan Square focused on sustainability and fighting gentrification.

Palenque LSNA is a community group based in Logan Square, Chicago, dedicated to addressing gentrification and thwarting displacement while promoting sustainability and racial equity. The organization works alongside partners LUCHA and the Center for Changing Lives to balance development opportunities with the preservation of community stability, character, and culture. Facing significant displacement where Latinx residents were pushed out and housing costs skyrocketed, Palenque LSNA advocates for equitable redevelopment strategies such as establishing a community land trust to purchase historic buildings and ensuring affordable housing options. The group has successfully organized to demand that a city-owned parking lot be redeveloped into affordable housing and secured a Community Benefits Agreement requiring developers to hire local staff and pay minimum wage. Additionally, Palenque LSNA empowers youth leadership to increase transparency in zoning procedures and advocates for cultural expression through community murals. The group emphasizes intentional collaboration between longtime and newer residents to ensure that development proceeds through the lens of racial equity, allowing all neighbors to remain and thrive in their neighborhood.
