The Queer Writers Club is a monthly meeting designed for LGBTQ+ writers of all levels, from beginners to experienced authors, regardless of genre. Hosted by Colleen O'Doherty, this project of Chicago Filmmakers and Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival serves as a queer writer's safe space and a friendly club dedicated to honing craft through creative writing exercises. Participants engage in focused practice within a group setting and gain the opportunity to meet other LGBTQ+ creatives. Whether you are jotting down poems in a journal or working on a fifth draft of a screenplay, the club welcomes you to percolate fresh ideas, help form a new writing community, and share in the company of this generative space. The club is co-presented by HotHouse and offers flexible participation options, including hybrid meetings where writers may join in person or online via Zoom. Events are typically held at Chicago Filmmakers, located at 1326 W. Hollywood Ave in Edgewater, Chicago, though specific dates and times should be confirmed through official registration.
