Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu (KKPA) is a volunteering group based in Coimbatore.
Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu (KKPA) is a Coimbatore-based volunteer organization dedicated to environmental and social causes. With a core group of 100 regular volunteers, the organization has conducted activities over 300 Sundays as of August 2023, collaborating with school and college students, the NCC, RAF, local NGOs, and the general public. Their environmental initiatives focus heavily on water body restoration and biodiversity, including the reclamation of the 264-acre Perur Lake in 2017 and planting tree saplings along the outer bund of Vellalore Lake to prevent encroachment and improve green cover. The group specifically utilizes Palmyra trees to strengthen lake bunds and conserve soil moisture. Beyond environmental work, KKPA engages in social service, such as providing lunch to 150 Corporation staff and police personnel in the Sundarapuram area for 45 days during the Covid lockdown. The group continues to operate with a philosophy of using available resources to create impactful change within the local community and its natural landscapes.
