The Delhi Garden Club (DGC) was established in 1941, evolving from a small group of twelve members into an organization of thirty-eight dedicated volunteers. While its early years focused on flower arranging, hosting shows, and competing in the Cleanest City initiative, the club has shifted its primary emphasis to community service and beautification. Members successfully secured and transformed a vacant lot into the Thompson-Anding Plaza, featuring raised flower beds lined with memorial bricks, a pergola, and abundant crepe myrtles and roses. The club actively collaborates with the Mayor and Town Council to clean up abandoned buildings and mobile homes, aiming to make the Town of Delhi a more attractive and appealing place. Their core purposes include stimulating interest in private and public gardening, improving the local environment, promoting conservation of birds, flowers, butterflies, and trees, and fostering friendship among gardeners. The club's official symbols are the Rose as the club flower, Magnolia as the club tree, and Crepe Myrtle as the club shrub, guided by the motto: "Beauty is the reward we seek for the service we render." Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May at 5:30 P.M., and the club is affiliated with National Garden Clubs, Inc and regional federations.
