Breadline x Foodlink Foundation

Breadline x Foodlink Foundation volunteers in Hong Kong to rescue food waste and support the needy.

Everyday in Hong Kong, over 3,250 tonnes of food are wasted while thousands struggle to eat. Breadline, Hong Kong's first public digital platform for food rescue, connects volunteers with bakeries to collect leftover bread in real-time. This initiative aims to save resources and directly support the homeless, low-income families, refugees, and the elderly poor by delivering rescued food to grassroots partners the same night. Volunteers can choose their own runs by selecting bakeries on the Breadline platform, check in for updates, and bring their own bags to collect. The service requires agility and flexibility, as volunteers must go to where the bread is available. After collection, volunteers drop off their haul at Hang Hau TKO Gateway (Hang Hau MTR Exit A1) between 9:00pm and 10:00pm, where staff will welcome them with their collection. All volunteers receive a service reminder that must be followed exactly to ensure timely collection and adherence to safety guidelines. If signing up as a team, each member must claim their own runs. This volunteering opportunity focuses on poverty alleviation and serves families and grassroots communities. Please note that this specific opportunity is currently unavailable.
