Long Beach Youth Chorus provides choir opportunities for children in Long Beach.

The Long Beach Youth Chorus serves the children and youth of Long Beach and surrounding communities including Carson, Bellflower, Lakewood, Cerritos, Los Alamitos, and Seal Beach. Founded in 2017 under the guidance of Executive Director Stan DeWitt and Artistic Director Steven Clausen, the organization was created to fill the gap of a significant civic children and youth chorus in an area of over half a million residents where not all local school districts have choirs in their schools. The chorus is led by current Artistic Director Harlee Balajadia. Operating with a policy of charging little or no tuition, the organization maintains the sole goal that no child should ever be dissuaded from singing due to financial reasons, striving to ensure every child has a chance to sing. Supported by the California Arts Council, the chorus works to create partnerships to realize its vision of becoming a diverse multi-chorus organization that provides every child in the region the opportunity to perform in a choir, collaborating with groups such as the United Cambodian Community, DAYS Youth Services, and the LB Immigrants Rights Coalition to make choruses available through shuttles.
