Community Care Los Angeles, a faith-based group focused on social justice and world repair.

Community Care Los Angeles, known as Nefesh, is an emerging community rooted in the Hebrew concept of Tikkun Olam, or 'world repair,' which encompasses healing, wholeness, and the pursuit of social justice. Drawing from classical rabbinic literature and Lurianic kabbalah, the group believes in actively repairing the shattered vessels of creation through both individual and collective action. As a member congregation of LA Voice, Nefesh engages in multi-racial, multi-faith organizing to address housing and financial insecurity across Los Angeles County. The community actively participates in climate activism through Dayenu Circle, mobilizing support for California climate bills and divestment campaigns against fossil fuels. Regular volunteer efforts include monthly free laundry services provided to neighbors in Echo Park, produce distribution in Eagle Rock, and immigration organizing partnerships with CLUE and EPIC to support asylum seekers. Additionally, the group fosters deep personal connection through the Sisterhood of All Genders, a support network for Kin during difficult times. As guests on Tongva land, Nefesh supports the Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa Conservancy. The community remains open to new members interested in these realms of action and connection, inviting inquiries via email to [email protected].
