Juhu Citizens' Welfare group (JCWG) is a gardening and civic group in Mumbai.
The Juhu Citizens' Welfare group (JCWG) is a registered civic organization based in Mumbai, dedicated to community gardening and public welfare. Formed through years of activism by local residents, the group officially registered in March 2004, evolving from earlier initiatives like The Juhu Seatizen. It now comprises voluntary members from NGOs in the K-West Municipal Ward of North West Mumbai, who gather every Thursday evening to coordinate activities. A key initiative of JCWG involves managing the Birla Garden, a 3.5km stretch of beach area that has become a popular picnic spot for schoolchildren. Recognizing the need for safe resting and play areas, the group has maintained the garden open for picnickers, utilizing its shady trees, paved patios, and drinking water taps to create a conducive environment for children. Furthermore, JCWG is actively working to provide proper garbage cans and cold purified drinking water to serve parched visitors, ensuring the space remains clean and accessible for the community. The group also maintains its own monthly publication, The Juhu Citizen, and an official website to disseminate information and engage with the public.
