Photographic Society of India in Mumbai, India's oldest photography group since 1937.

The Photographic Society of India, established in Mumbai in 1937, stands as India's oldest photographic society and a dedicated community for photographers of all levels. For nearly nine decades, the organization has championed the craft through a vibrant ecosystem of weekly Friday evening programs featuring lectures, critiques, and presentations. Members engage in hands-on learning sessions covering lighting, editing, printing, and studio practice, alongside structured courses taught by senior members. The society fosters growth through monthly digital contests, quarterly thematic rounds, and annual trophy awards, complemented by field practice outings to Mumbai's heritage precincts, markets, and landscapes. Beyond technical instruction, the group hosts international salons, member exhibitions, and gallery showcases, utilizing its own working studio and the PSI Art Gallery for shoots and displays. With a legacy spanning from the 1950s to the present, the society welcomes beginners picking up their first camera to masters exhibiting internationally, ensuring every voice behind the lens finds a place within this enduring photographic community.
