NYC Parks volunteer opportunities in Washington Heights, Inwood, and across New York City.

NYC Parks encourages community members to volunteer and lend their time and skills to support vital efforts across New York City, with a specific focus on the Washington Heights and Inwood neighborhoods. Volunteering serves as a meaningful way to give back, strengthen communities, and make a real difference in people's lives. The group highlights numerous organizations working tirelessly to support individuals and families in need, including Verde Vida, which sets up mobile farmers markets in underserved neighborhoods to provide fresh, affordable produce, and the NYC Love Kitchen, which serves fresh meals and operates a food pantry weekly in Washington Heights and Inwood. Additional opportunities are available with local community-based organizations such as the Ali Forney Center, which protects LGBTQ+ young people from homelessness, and the ARC Older Adult Center, which connects seniors to essential services. Other listed groups include the Bowery Mission, City Harvest, City Relief, Jazz Power Initiative, La Puerta Estrecha Food Pantry, Medical Center Neighborhood Fund, Morris-Jumel Mansion, New York Cares, New York Restoration Project, Nido de Esperanza, Operation Exodus, Part of the Solution (POTS) Bronx, Rescue Alliance, Riverside Park Conservancy, Salvation Army, and School in the Square. While opportunities range from single-day activities to long-term commitments, most require registration through the respective organization's website.
