Cantare is an Oakland choir fostering community through choral music.

Cantare seeks to foster a diverse community of compassion and understanding across generational, cultural, and economic boundaries through the beauty and power of choral music in Oakland. The organization features youth and adult choir programs, including innovative and inclusive in-school music education classes and afterschool choirs that reach underserved Oakland children with tuition-free choral instruction led by experienced teaching artists. Cantare's programs also include an auditioned 100-voice symphonic Chorale that rehearses and performs a variety of compelling and challenging choral music during the concert season from August to April, a non-auditioned Summer Choir, and two community youth choirs known as Nova and Aurora. Through seasonal holiday concerts and community events, Cantare brings together intergenerational singers to share inspiring repertoire with the public while lifting voices and uplifting lives.
