Phoenix West Threshold Choir provides compassionate singing for shut-ins, the ill, and dying in the Phoenix West Valley.
The Phoenix West Threshold Choir offers a service of compassionate singing for shut-ins, those in pain, the seriously ill, and those who are dying. Operating within the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona, the group performs in private homes, hospices, care facilities, and hospitals. Composed of individuals who can carry a tune, the choir sings in small groups of two to four, performing gentle songs drawn from a variety of traditions. Their purpose is to soothe, comfort, uplift, and bring peace to those in need. The choir sings only when invited and attends as often as requested, viewing their service as a gift rather than a paid job, with no charges for their performances. For those interested in joining, the choir invites all who feel drawn to this work to visit a rehearsal. Practices take place at Shadow Rock Church, located at 12861 N. 8th Avenue, Phoenix. Rehearsals are held on the first and third Sundays at 1 p.m., the second Friday at 2 p.m., and via Zoom on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. Participation at the bedside is left to the individual's readiness. To request singers or to visit a rehearsal, interested parties should contact the choir via email.
