The Community for Positive Aging

The Community for Positive Aging supports Portlanders 55+ with services, advocacy, and community.

The Community for Positive Aging, based in Portland, is the new name for what many know as the Hollywood Senior Center. Over the past 50 years, its offerings have expanded beyond the Hollywood neighborhood, leading to this rebranding. The organization continues to provide the same programs and services at The Center, while adding more public advocacy, cross-community collaborations, and support for everyone age 55 and older. One highlighted project is Preservation Pictures, a documentary about an intergenerational after-school program at Buckman Elementary, where elders and children create films together. In partnership with Gal Pal Films, the group is running a fundraising campaign to screen the film for free in community centers, faith spaces, and care facilities, and to expand the program so more elders and young people can connect. CFPA also recently appeared on American Dream TV with host Connie Vera to discuss its mission and work supporting older adults, especially those in marginalized communities, through resources, advocacy, and belonging.
