Students of Service (SOS)
Students of Service (SOS) in San Antonio develops young leaders through local service and global travel.
Students of Service (SOS) is a San Antonio organization dedicated to developing young leaders with a global perspective who can solve local problems. The group combines meaningful local community service with informed international experiences, believing that all young people have the power to make a positive difference. SOS operates around three core pillars: Learn, Serve, and Explore. The Learn pillar prepares students for life after high school through key socioemotional and leadership skills, including a Student Leadership Council, Career Atlas summer programs, and workshops on financial literacy and college preparation. The Serve pillar emphasizes local youth giving back by hosting various service events for middle and high school students, offering volunteer opportunities through a Volunteer Portal, and encouraging students to join or start an SOS club at their local school. The Explore pillar expands understanding of the global community by facilitating world travel, with scholarships available for students to visit countries such as Japan, South Korea, Germany, and France. SOS has a significant community impact, involving over 5,000 student volunteers, 100 educators, and 50+ local schools, while also boasting a global footprint with over 600 travelers visiting 19 countries. Through these programs, the organization aims to broaden perspectives, improve personal skills, define a sense of purpose, and prepare students for college, career, and global citizenship.
