The Basic Christian Community (BCC) in Tiruchirappalli is a living heritage of faith, community, and devotion to Our Lady of Seven Dolours, rooted in Trichy since the early 18th century with historical ties to Veeramamunivar. Under the shepherding of successive parish priests at Palayakovil, the parish has grown steadily in faith, devotion, and infrastructure. The community nurtures faith in children through active Catechism programmes that form them in the teachings of Christ, while the Youth Ministry empowers the next generation with spiritual formation, leadership, and a strong sense of Christian identity. Dedicated to ensuring that no one is left behind, the parish provides outreach, sacramental care, and pastoral support so that every soul is seen, heard, and loved. The Parish Council and various parish committees work hand in hand with the clergy to guide the growth, development, and administration of the parish with transparency and purpose. Rooted in the Basic Christian Community model, the parish is organised into small neighbourhood groups where families gather to pray together, support one another, and live out the Gospel in their everyday lives.
