Older Adult Ministry in Washington, D.C. offers spiritual engagement, meetings, and community support.

The Older Adult Ministry in Washington, D.C. is dedicated to fostering spiritual freedom, community connection, and meaningful engagement for older adults. Led by Rev. Elder Dwayne Johnson, the ministry currently focuses on a series titled 'Courageous Faith,' designed to prepare participants for upcoming elections by exploring themes of spiritual liberty and resilience through scripture, prayer, and dialogue. Services and gatherings include a monthly meeting held in person on the second floor of the chapel and via Zoom, featuring guest speakers such as Adam Heller from the Center for Aging Services. The ministry actively encourages participation through various formats: onsite attendance at 474 Ridge Street, NW, Washington, D.C., joining virtual sessions via Zoom with specific meeting IDs and phone numbers, or accessing content on demand. Beyond spiritual study, the ministry supports worship through the Re-Imagine Ensemble, which invites members to sing and rehearse together to build musical belonging. Additionally, the ministry collaborates with MCCDC's Writers' Ministry for Saturday writing sessions and participates in community events like the 38th Walk & 5K to End HIV in Anacostia Park. The ministry also hosts a Holiday Concert and leads discussions on navigating politically perilous times through interdependence and hope. All activities are open to those seeking to reclaim their true identities, explore spiritual power, and engage in acts of generosity and loving deeds, with opportunities to donate time or resources to support the ministry's hospitality and operational needs.
