The Women Association of UPSA (WAUPSA) is an all-women campus-based group established at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, with the primary goal of empowering and promoting the interests of women within the university community. The association seeks to develop the potentials of female students by offering mentorship, coaching, and capacity building to help them reach their full potential and gain the self-confidence needed for future leadership positions. Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright, the Registrar of UPSA, described the formation of the union as long overdue, noting that while women are increasingly present in key leadership roles, they still face significant challenges such as discrimination and inequality in the workplace. The group intends to respond to the concrete needs of women through networking and will advocate for reforms in policies affecting women to support their development. Dr. Helen Arkorful, the Interim President, emphasized the significant role women play in the nation's socio-economic development and highlighted the association's commitment to shaping the lives of female students through guidance. Special Guest of Honour Mrs. Florence Larbi called for deliberate efforts to influence the implementation of gender-sensitive policies and urged women in leadership to mentor the younger generation, serving as role models who balance professional roles with family responsibilities. The group has received solidarity messages from distinguished personalities and other women's groups, reinforcing its mission to impact the lives of students and the broader community of scholars.
