Program Support Volunteer Team in Chicago offers year-round and seasonal opportunities for community service.

The Program Support Volunteer Team is an essential part of ChicagoCAC's mission to serve children and families in Chicago. Our volunteers make a difference in many ways, whether tending the Hope & Healing Garden, assisting with Back to School and Holiday Drives, supporting fundraising events, or helping our child life team create a welcoming, playful space for children visiting the center. Due to the confidential nature of our services, volunteer opportunities that offer direct interaction with clients are very limited. Volunteers who interact with families at the center must pass a DCFS and criminal background check, and having the flu vaccine is highly encouraged. Year-round opportunities include Child Life, where volunteers aged 21 and older with experience working with children and families spend time with kids during appointments, playing games, assisting with therapy dogs, and performing toy cleaning tasks. This role requires a background check and a commitment of at least six months. Program Support volunteers play an important behind-the-scenes role, helping ensure programs run smoothly by building furniture, helping with fundraising, organizing donations, and sorting clothes for clothing drives; this role is as-needed rather than regularly scheduled. Seasonal opportunities include the Kids' Holiday Event in December, where volunteers organize toy drives and help sort, package, and prepare gifts for families.
