Wednesday Supper

Wednesday Supper is a Chicago volunteering group serving meals to those in need.

Wednesday Supper is a community-based volunteer group in Chicago dedicated to serving sit-down evening meals to Chicagoans experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, or other hardships. Held every Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at Catholic Charities, the group welcomes 20 to 25 volunteers who commit two hours to setup, serving, and cleanup. Beyond the main meal service, which can accommodate up to 300 guests, the organization offers diverse volunteer opportunities including bag meal preparation on Wednesdays and Saturdays, cooking for other community meals and encampments, and leading peer groups such as storytelling, book clubs, and yoga. The group also supports the St. Chrysostom and Ascension Church Free Store on Wednesdays and assists with New Foundations resources at eight partner locations across the city. For groups of more than ten people, a sponsorship of $1,000 is required to reserve meal spaces. Interested volunteers can contact Sarah Boone at [email protected] for meal preparation inquiries or Karen Hickey at [email protected] regarding fundraising events. The organization also provides educational insights on the impact of mental illness on Chicago's homeless population.
