Non-auditioned choir in Columbus for youth and adults to sing together.
The Hilliard Youth Choir is a non-auditioned community ensemble located in Columbus, Ohio, offering two distinct programs for singers of all ages. The Hilliard Community Chorus welcomes anyone high school-aged and older to perform three full-length concerts annually, including a nearly 50-year tradition of performing Handel's Messiah with the Greater Columbus Community Orchestra. Directed by Logan W. Fletcher, this group rehearses weekly at Hilliard Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoons and evenings, with no requirement to be a local resident. For younger voices, the Hilliard Youth Chorus serves children in grades 1 through 8, focusing on developing technique, exploring new musical styles, and fostering friendship. Conducted by Meredith Kennedy and Samantha Sayar, this youth program requires no prior experience and meets weekly at the Hilliard Civic and Cultural Arts Center on Wednesday afternoons, divided into sessions for younger (grades 1-3) and older (grades 4-8) singers. Participation in the youth choir involves a seasonal fee of $50 to support directors, accompanists, and sheet music. The group culminates its season with a performance at the Hilliard Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, December 6th, celebrating community through music.
