New World Singers choir in Columbus, Ohio, returning to in-person rehearsals in seven safe ensembles.

New World Singers, a choir based in Columbus, Ohio, is pleased to announce its return to in-person rehearsals following extensive research and planning conducted over three months. To ensure safety, the group has implemented strict protocols including six-foot spacing between singers, two half-hour sessions with room changes for disinfection and airing, and the use of masks while singing. The choir has been divided into seven smaller ensembles, a structure that members have embraced enthusiastically as it allows for focused individual vocal development and leadership growth. The return is supported by dedicated staff including program manager Tammy Gebara, choir managers Valerie Peart and Carol Tewalt, and accompanist/director Chad Baker. While New World Singers is currently the only group rehearsing in person, the artistic staff continues to lead virtual rehearsals for other ensembles such as Santa Maria, Pinta, Nina, Isabella, and young musicians. The group remains resilient in its mission to keep music alive and hopes to gradually bring other ensembles back to in-person sessions as conditions allow.
