Indianapolis Urban League

The Indianapolis Urban League offers volunteer opportunities to support food distribution and community services.

The Indianapolis Urban League invites individuals and groups to participate in meaningful volunteer experiences designed to support the Urban League movement across the city. Volunteers, defined as friendly, caring, and 18 years or older, contribute their time and talent to provide excellent service to guests. A primary focus is the Drive-Thru Food and Meal Distribution initiative, which combats hunger and food insecurity. Originally launched on April 21, 2002, to address the impact of job losses and income reduction during the COVID-19 pandemic, this no-contact drive-thru program continues to serve residents due to sustained demand. Families receive food boxes, fresh vegetables, dairy items, ready-to-serve meals, and access to community resources and services. Volunteer shifts are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Duties include setting up the distribution site, bagging meals, directing traffic, distributing community resources, and loading food boxes. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Aaron Porter at [email protected].
