Rady Children's Hospital Volunteer Program
Support pediatric care and families as a volunteer with Rady Children's Hospital in Irvine.
The Rady Children's Hospital Volunteer Program offers compassionate and enthusiastic individuals the opportunity to dedicate their time to help provide pediatric care in Southern California. Since 1964, volunteer programs across multiple locations, including Orange County and Mission Viejo, have provided vital assistance to patients, families, and staff. Volunteers assist with a variety of roles based on organizational needs, availability, interests, and skill sets, with the highest need for weekday shifts between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Current opportunities include greeting visitors, escorting families, providing office clerical support, helping in the Family Resource Center, offering coloring and reading activities, assessing family comfort needs, assisting with patient discharges, and supporting child life specialists in playrooms and specific departments such as the Emergency Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room. The program also recruits certified pet therapy teams for specific locations. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, as in-person opportunities are not available for minors or high school students, and the program does not offer short-term, summer, job training, internship, or one-day volunteer opportunities.
