Immigration Organizing in Los Angeles, focusing on social justice and community support.

Immigration Organizing is a community initiative within the Nefesh congregation in Los Angeles dedicated to supporting immigrant neighbors and advancing social justice. Working in partnership with CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice), the group helps keep immigrant families safe. Additionally, Nefesh collaborates with EPIC (Echo Park Immigration Center) to provide material support for individuals seeking asylum in the United States while they are housed in Los Angeles. This organizing effort is part of a broader commitment to Tikkun Olam, or 'world repair,' which encompasses healing, wholeness, and social action. The community engages in various forms of service, including housing and financial security initiatives with LA Voice, climate activism through Dayenu, free laundry services, produce distribution in Eagle Rock, and general community care. As an emerging group, Immigration Organizing responds to the present moment, aiming to build collective power and raise a spiritual, religious, and moral voice for those affected by economic and immigration challenges in the county.
