Silver Lake Backgammon Club in Los Angeles hosts social events featuring backgammon, natural wine, and local bar support.

The Silver Lake Backgammon Club in Los Angeles is a community gathering space founded by Paris Hunter Paul to combat loneliness and foster connections among neighbors and strangers. While the group is named for and begins with backgammon nights, the events have evolved into a vibrant mix of socializing, learning the game, and enjoying natural wines curated by Paul. The club operates by partnering with various local bars and restaurants in the Silver Lake, Echo Park, and surrounding areas, such as the Black Cat, Club Tee Gee, Spirit House, Nico's, Biite, and Silver Lake Pool and Inn. Events provide a welcoming environment for both serious backgammon players and beginners, encouraging attendees to play, learn, drink, and make friends. Paul describes the club as a collection of his favorite things: backgammon, natural wine, parties, and community support. The group actively supports local venues by bringing crowds to them and has received positive feedback from bartenders and patrons. While the origins involved a need for a name for a mushroom enterprise, the club has grown into a dedicated social hub focused on good vibes, storytelling, and building meaningful relationships within the changing neighborhood of Silver Lake.
